| What's up with the Dragon Gallery . . . ?!? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
What can I say about this page? It originally started out as a place to put all the dragon pictures I had (back in 1995.) It then evolved into a place where you could buy dragon posters. Then that fell through (the company I was affiliated with to the sell the posters royally screwed up and ''deleted'' my account and ''forgot'' to tell me about it) so I was advertising them at my own expense, and not getting any credit!
Needless to say, that pissed me off to no end (the whole thing was patently done on purpose so they wouldn't have to pay me) so I left the pictures up (it'd taken me a week of coding to get all the links up after all!) and removed the links back to their site - I'm not going to advertise their products for free, particularly as they promised to pay me for it! I later found out that the company that I was affiliated with ::COUGH-Commission Junction-COUGH:: ended up losing their contract with the provider of the posters (shady dealings, no doubt!) |

So all-in-all this poor page has been something of a child lost by the wayside. Until January 2009 that is . . . What happened then, you might ask? Well, I discovered an online game called Dragon Cave, and it occurred to me that at last, I found a reason for this page's existence! |

Dragon Cave is a pretty simple game. Basically you either ''adopt'' or ''steal'' a dragon egg from the cave, and then it's your responsibility to see that it hatches and grows up. This is accomplished by clicks and views - that is, other people clicking and/or viewing the picture (sprite) of your egg. If you get enough clicks and views, then your egg will hatch! If not, it'll die. Once your egg hatches, you still have to make sure it continues to get enough clicks and views to make it through it's hatchling stage. Once your dragon has achieved adulthood, then you no longer have to worry about clicks and views - but the game isn't over, because now that your dragon is an adult, you can breed him/her! |

You've probably encountered this sort of game before, there are many different variations of ''online pets'' you can adopt from all over the Internet. I happen to like this one, it's not terribly complicated, there is a comparative minimum of ''fussing'' you have to do over your virtual pet, and I really don't want an online dog. I've got two real, live Labrador Retrievers, so I've got my hands full enough just caring for them! |

They are for the most part named after Norse gods and goddesses and of course the Valkyrie. There are a few ''common'' names thrown in as well, because I'm running out of deities to name them after! And yes, I realize that I've misspelled many of them. That was intentional. No two dragons can share the same name, therefore I had to get creative with some of the more popular Norse deities. |
